This film struck me as very unyielding; from the acting to the music, I did not expect what ever was going to happen whenever it did at anytime for the duration. For this, it demanded my attention. When it was over though, my little complex mind was trying to wrap itself around what I just watched. The biggest reactions I’ve heard thus far is “weird, but good.” I feel that is a very accurate description. I adored the cinematography and character the music brought forth. All of the elements came together in perfect creation to give a sense of belonging and freshness to the screen.
The story stumbles to tell itself, but seems like it needs to. Perhaps though, the winning subject goes to the acting. Keaton was surprising and fearless. I could not doubt for a second that the character he was playing exists somewhere in this world. My hat is also off to Miss. Stone. She usually is very shiny in her roles, but this one had some bite. She did not falter in her exhibition, but gives a truly natural performance. I would recommend this film to those that don’t quite need directions, but enjoy getting lost every once and a while. It does not have a strait-forward way about it, and I enjoyed that. I will be thinking about it for a bit it seems, which is okay with me.
