For those of you that really don’t understand or appreciate Wes Anderson’s work, this might not be for you. I’ve heard time and time again reactions containing the word “boring” and “weird”. When I describe this movie, the first thing I always state is that it is a Wes Anderson movie. This is important as he has a certain style of direction that touches every feature he does. The best way I can describe the tone is “a casual reaction to a potentially dangerous situation”. His films also give very intimate and excruciating detail to art direction, filming style, screenplay, and pace. All of this that makes up a Wes Anderson film never fails to make me fall in love with movies time and time again. Grand Budapest Hotel was no different of an experience.
This film gives it’s fans exactly what they want without faltering from the quick exciting pace down to the star-studded cast. I fail to find even one error with it. I am sorry for those that watched it and still, “just don’t get it”. It is truly difficult for me to give an honest review to a stranger about this style without me gushing about it’s neatness. With that, I welcome anyone that wants to host a Wes Anderson movie night! I’ll be in attendence and I’ll even pay for pizza 😀
