First, I must state that I am biased (as we all are). I have been watching this classic since the wee age of when my scary movie fixes required me to sneak across the street to the neighbor’s house (Thank you Becky :D). I fell in love with this beautifully shot movie instantly. My hat first goes off to Mr. King of course for creating such a captivating story. It never gets old for some reason. The camera work is really nifty, in times where it makes dizzying circles or hides creepy details in the shots. The music creates an atmosphere wherever it goes, changing from alarming to tender in the most appropriate of moments. The 1970’s culture is very apparent, and it works well for this. As for all the pieces fitting, they could not find a better cast. If you want to see great performances, Piper Laurie will take your breath away. This might go down as one of the best performances that I’ve ever seen. Sissy Spacek does the main character much needed justice as she plays the role perfectly. As I think of all the acting, I have to say that all roles where done very well.

I know some of you might go for the new adaptation, but I warn you; watch this one first if you want quality! If you are one of those types that can’t see quality in older films, then off with your head! The newer version basically used the same script, which contradicts a reboot for the times. The acting also isn’t as sincere.

It’s apropos that I recommend this film, personally being that I once was a Prom Queen (believe it or not) and I also played the role of a post-prom Carrie. Fun times!
