From a land where honor and tradition reign, comes the legend of a martial-arts hero unlike any other — the “Drunken Master” — who can turn just one drink into devastation and humiliation for his enemies. His technique is fast, furious… and powerfully funny.

You might be like, “uhhh… what is she doing watching this?” Well… like all good girlfriends, I try to be a “sport” and watch what he does on occasion. I do actually enjoy watching good martial arts movies and when it comes to those, no one does it better than Jackie Chan. We decided to go back to one of his legendary ones. I have to say, I was very impressed. It is one of the best of Chan’s work.
The most interesting of details about these types of movies is that people REALLY are getting hurt. I’m not stating this as a good thing, but it is genuine and notes importance. These “stunts”, if you can even call them so, are being pulled off at a price. That truly shows passion and grit for this creation. I almost cannot believe my eyes at how real all of the sequences appear and probably are.
Another great aspect is the comedy. There are pretty many side-splitting scenes that are very fitting to this plot line. One of the funniest acts in the film is actress, Anita Mui. She plays Chan’s step-mother and quick con-artist. Her quirky personality and cartoonish style gives the movie most of it’s spunk. I don’t think it would have been the same without her. The only criticism that I had with the movie as a whole is one scene where Chan’s father is publicly shaming his drunken nature and he really lays it on. It sort of de-rails the feel and throws off the balance of comedy/action. It’s too serious. Other than that, it’s a wild ride you really should take.
