One of my good friends has a great way to tell if a movie has captured you or not. Next time you go see a film try this: after it’s over or you might notice half way through that you haven’t touched your soda (or beverage of choice). You totally forgot you could drink drinks or do anything other than get sucked into this movie. That is exactly how I felt with Doctor Strange. I was a bit skeptical going in just because I was unfamiliar and didn’t really grasp the concept as much. Once you understand though it’s pretty brilliant and fresh as far as the Marvel multiverse goes.
I immediately noticed the intricacy of each scene and mind-blowing effects. I’m not sure how this wasn’t nominated for film editing. It was crazy impressive from one shot to the next. I’m glad it achieved a visual effects nomination at least. Cumberbatch (is that how it’s spelled? ha ha) executed perfectly as he usually does. I wish I was a little more familiar with the comic book personae. He really gave a distinctive nature to his role that grew on me. I’m not as familiar with his other works, but he has a reputation of never failing to impress so he was probably a good choice. I was really taken, as always, with Tilda Swinton. She always does her roles the justice they deserve even if it means going the distance.
I’m not going to give away the snippet after the credits, but just to say that there is one and it will get you totally giddy! Linking all of these characters together is one of the best things Marvel has ever done and it’s really paying off for them. Seriously, the Marvel multiverse is just awesome. I don’t mean to sound like every super hero nerd out there, but it’s a really great escape. I don’t know about you, but I really need a fun break from all the things nowadays. I’m absolutely kicking myself for not enjoying this on the big screen. I’m really peeved someone didn’t drag me by my ear to see it! I really would have forgiven them. 😀
