Okay… I know I’m forever late to this viewing, BUT for very good reason. It is as they say and as I feared: Diet Avengers. Yuck. This comparison rings very true for me because I loathe diet drinks. I’d rather have nothing. It’s true for Justice League too. I’d rather have watched a blank screen for 2 hours. You might think I’m being a bit harsh here, especially for me! Let me elaborate.
First irritating thingy: the script/screenwriting. I know some of you might say, “but hey, it’s the action that’s important.” That might be true, but what really makes these characters so watchable and favored is their personae. Whoever wrote the script and screen play really really just doesn’t get it. My BF and I got to the point where we were just voicing (sometimes screaming) commentary at the screen; which doesn’t happen hardly at all when I watch movies. Every quip from almost every character was unbearably predictable and (I’m sorry) dumb. I felt like I could have written a better script. They just didn’t seem to even try at originality or flare. Instead it was stale and base. Like I have said before with super hero movies, with exception to Batman, they need to be fun.
The second irritating thingy: the action. This is what it is all about. The last few DC adaptations just have not measured up. They go for the overuse of the slow motion and strange camera angles for fight sequences. The fights also are not very creative in Justice League. When compared to Marvel, DC just likes to punch and kick their way in a fight (no special powers showing), leaving the characters all seeming the same when you know they are not at all. Marvel fights have such diverse effects and creativity with their style. Each character shows off their special powers in such neat ways that leave us laughing and wowed. Overall, I am sad for DC. I really want to enjoy this universe. I really do! I’m sure a lot of fans who gave this movie high marks just really had to push through as I did and just tried super hard to ignore all the meh. I couldn’t though. I honestly almost turned it off in the middle. I’m curious to hear what you thought though. Please leave me a comment on what you liked or didn’t about this and if you agree.
